So on a day to day basis if someone asked me "what do you think of OWS"? My answer would be "I don't". But every once in awhile a headline will catch my attention. Like reading that Occupy LA when they got cleared out left behind 30 tons of garbage. Which of course makes me wonder just how much filth they had to move out of there before they could get to the rest of it. if you get my drift. Which is that those people are human garbage. Just to be clear. Some new society they were building there. you need people in hazmat suits to clean up after them. Afterwards they should go over everything with a flamethrower. Just to be sure.

In great news, one of the most vile people in congress is retiring after this term. The bad news is that he is retiring and not sitting in jail where he belongs. After writing that I feel the need to clarify that I am talking about Barney Frank. If ever you needed a face for the housing meltdown and resulting economic collapse this fucker would be it. Someone should occupy his front yard if they want to make a real fucking statement. Oh well. Good riddance to bad rubbish. You know he is going to get some high paying non-job somewhere with the people he has been in business with for years. but we can only hope he actually stays out of public eye. And not just because he is hard on the eyes. He is much harder on the brain.

Well in news that keeps me from driving off a bridge this week. I bought a X-Box 360 finally. And no not in some black Friday free for all. Now that I just said that I guess it was last week when I got it. Eh time flies when you have something to distract you from the world falling apart. At least in Skyrim I can actually save the world pretty much by myself. Out here in the real world it takes a few more of us.

Well the Cardinals hired Mike Matheny as their new Manager. This came a a surprise to many. But not to me. Not after listening to Andy Van Slyke on the radio last week. He made the point that you wouldn't even bring in a guy like Matheny, a man with no managerial or even coaching experience, unless he was your guy.

I personally like the guy. And I hope he does well. But you are taking a big risk by hiring this guy. The Cards GM is basically putting his job on the line with this one. But he has made some great moves over the past few seasons. So I guess you get a little leeway after winning the World Series because of them.

The coaching staff is in a bit of flux. Some leaving and some switching positions. But the only one that really matters is that Dave Duncan will be back next year.

The Rams have managed to win a couple of games now. And despite the fact that they keep losing players for the year. Including another one from the secondary. They can still beat Seattle this weekend. So good luck you giants of the gridiron.

So after the rats have been kicked out of their nest they want to spread over the city of New York. Sadly for them they wanted 10,000 to show up. It was more like 2k. And now they are just so angry, grrrrr. One wonders what took these mayors so long to realize that eventually you need to take out the garbage? Although one theory is that many of them being leftist themselves agreed with the protesters on a basic level. Plus they are good for distracting people from real problems.

Heck why you do think they were embraced? Sure for ideological reasons and the want for a counter to the tea party (laugh). But the big reason IMO is because it is a big distraction. "Here look at these losers and not at our multi-billion dollar slush funds for our friends we call green loans".

If you look, every day you will see the administration doing things like not obeying a subpoena from congress for "Fast and Furious" info and others. Or that the economy is still in the shitter. and projected to be there for quite some time. Sadly for the Obama administration distractions don't last forever. And the election is next year.

Now if we can only nominate a decent candidate (not Romney) we will be fine.

Nightmare

What a sad time for Collage Football. This Penn St. nightmare is one part horrifying.and one party mystifying. The horrifying is obvious. The mystifying is mufti-layered. It was bad enough when it first came out I thought the "alleged" Sandusky was acting inappropriate with his own players. But then as this story went on I started to hear things like "10 year old boy" and "not on the coaching staff anymore". That brings up a whole series of questions in itself. But then the bombshell hits that somebody "allegedly" saw a 10 year old being raped and the only thing he did was tell the head coach. And the head coach told the university president. And that was pretty much it. Then you learn details that before this guy was let go these allegations had surfaced before and they covered it up. But then we are back to the mystifying. Why would you give this guy carte blanche at your facility and even let him run a charity helping young children? I mean holy shit people.

So what are we left with? Many "alleged" victims of this guy. The winningest and one of the most well respected coaches of all time has had his legacy probably permanently sullied. And a university that has to pick up the pieces and answer for what happened. So at the very least Paterno and the president had to go. IMO more people need to go. Even if they are okay legally, morally they just need to go. You people covered this up "for the program". And now it's come to bite you in the ass. You And you deserve all of it.

Well enough of that horribly depressing stuff. Let's talk about Mizzou. They have finalized that they are moving to the SEC east. (really east?) In a move that has surprised no one. The only surprise I guess would be that it took this long. It was one of this very well known secrets.

The Blues fired Davis Payne and hired Ken Hitchcock. Now this one did surprise me. Sure they were only 6-7 at the time. But you have to keep in mind that they do have injuries. They have played lots of games on the road. And Jaro Halak has been awful. I don't think any coach could have done much better with that going on. Especially the Halak part. But I guess the expectations are to win this year. And this team really couldn't afford another month of mediocrity. So out with the new and in with the old. They got a win in his first game an Halak got a shutout. So who knows. maybe it will work out. I sure as hell hope so.

Speaking of skippers, the Cardinals are still looking for theirs. Last I remember hearing they want one in place sooner rather than later. And by that I mean like next week. So we should have news on this shortly.

I haven't really been following the day to day movements of "occupy wall street". Nor have I been commenting on them. I mean at this point it's still juts a series of mobs around the country. And the only thing they are producing is crime. The only surprising part happened when the Democrats tried to attach themselves to this mob and support it. I guess they are still doing it. But I have even stopped paying attention to that. This will end in one of two ways. Either it will die out because it is a directionless movement. Or they will get more radical and violent. In which case this is going to be a very good thing to galvanize the public at large against them and the Democrats who supported them. Either way I don't see this "movement" having a negative impact on Republican chances in 2012.

As an aside. I still don't get why people can't seem to understand that when you give Government the power to pick winners and losers that the people with greater influence than you will undoubtedly be the winners?

Rain Delay

Well holy shit this World Series is going to give me an ulcer. More than one person (myself included) has said that the Cardinals are losing this series. It's not that the Rangers are winning. This series should be over by now. Instead it is coming back to St. Louis and the Cards have to win both games. It got rain delayed so if it goes to seven they can call on Carpenter if they want. Okay who are we kidding? Even though he blew his 3 days rest start in the NLCS don't think they will hesitate to use him again Friday. But damn those losses have been painful.

In other interesting sports news the Blues have now won 3 in a row. With their backup goaltender. You have to go with the hot hand. But Halak needs to find it. Fast. Already you have people wondering if he is going to be that difference maker they traded for and signed to a multi-year deal.

The Rams continue to get beat and get inured. Two linemen got concussions against Dallas. And Bradford is still limping around. Just wonderful .

Well the improbable run continues for the Cardinals. They have gotten to the World Series and have taken a 1-0 lead as of this posting. Just like the first two rounds very few people are picking the Cards to win the series. And some of the ESPN polls I saw before game one had about 60% of the people picking Texas. So the Redbirds got them right where they want them. Just like the Phils and the Brewers and just like they did the Tigers back in '06.

Let's just hope the Squirrel doesn't let them down.

And I also hope that everyone enjoyed the extra bullshit they had to go through because the First Lady showed up.

The Blues and the Rams are still glad that the Cards are still playing. You got a week, maybe two if they win it to get your act together fellas.

Well the Cardinals blew it last night. proving that they can't seem to play well unless they are backed into a corner. I suspect that if the lose tonight they could still win the last two in Milwaukee. If not tonight will be the last game of the season at Bush. And possibly the last game of Sir Albert's Cards career. And if that is the case it might also be the last home game of TLR.

The Rams are going to Green bay. Just keep your heads down on Sunday. Because it's going to be ugly.

The Blues are off to a roaring 1-2 start. Halak looks average at best. It's not exactly panic time. But you don't want to stumble out of the gate. Then again the last couple years they won big at the start and still missed the playoffs. So who knows?

In the "they desperately wish this would go away" news we have more on 'Fast & Furious'. In May Eric Holder said he just learned of the program "over the last few weeks". Well CNN came along and decides to show the President in March bringing up the program and stating "Eric Holder has -- the attorney general has been very clear that he knew nothing about this. We had assigned an I.G., inspector general, to investigate it". Of course this begs the question. Just how long has Eric Holder not known about Fast & Furious?

In other "wish it would go away news" we have Solyndra. Per Fox News.

Before anything else I am calling the Rams season right now. They have now lost their other starting corner for the season. Not to mention their #3 corner is also out for the year. And it looks like their leading receiver from last year will be placed on IR. The two positions where they were probably the thinnest talent wise and they have lost four starters. Green Bay is going to assault their secondary. And at this point anyone will probably be able to. Combine this with the worst rushing defense in the league this year and an offense that can't seem to pull it together? Yeah.....

The Cardinals on the other hand continue to take the dramatic route and lose winnable games. But they came back last night and forced a game 5. At this point I have no clue what to expect from them Friday.Maybe the should take the squirrel with them?

Well it's an exciting time in baseball. The playoffs are just around the corner. And we have some down to the wire, maybe one game playoff, tight Wildcard races. I for one am rooting for the Rays. Just out of spite against Boston.

In the National League with the Cardinals losing 3 of 5 before tonight it looked like a 'who wants it less' competition. And it was looking like the Cards. Until they scored a bakers dozen after being down 5-0.Now even with the Cardinals looking like they didn't want to win those last 5 games they once again control their own destiny. So do the Braves. But that is why we call it a tie. Good news for the Cards is that the tiebreaker if needed will be at home. Maybe this come from behind win got the Redbirds out of that funk they got in when the lost to the Mets? Let's hope so. Because they need to be playing like they did for most of the month if they want to stand a chance.

Everyone pretty much figured the Rams would lose. But damn did they get their asses kicked in pretty much every facet of the game. It's looking real ugly over there at Rams park these days. They better find some mojo soon. If not this week than in the bye week. Because damn....

As for the Blues? David Perron is back with the team after missing like 10 months. And everyone is rooting for the guy. He could be a really great player for the Blues for years to come if this concussion thing doesn't stop him like it has so many others.

Maybe it's because he comes off sounding like a jackass? Well there are various reasons. That is just the one that always sticks out for me.

Geeze so much going on. And a bunch of it in the last 24 hours.

I suppose we should start with collage football. Things were coming out fast and furious. Just yesterday it seemed a foregone conclusion that Oklahoma, Oklahoma st, Texas and Texas tech would be leaving for the Pac. The later on in the day word comes that Oklahoma will stay with the big 12 if a list of their demands are met. Including doing something about the Longhorn network and firing the Big 12 president. While this was going on it was announced that Missouri had an informal agreement with the SEC to become their 12th team.

After then things got fun. Word came out that the Pac would stay put at 12 teams (word is Texas balked at equal revenue sharing. So it looks that those 4 teams are staying put for now. When that came out it was announced that The SEC in fact did not have any agreement with Mizzou. or that it had been reconsidered....or something. No one really knows at this point. Maybe they just want to lay low for a bit.

So as it stands the Big 12 hasn't fallen apart. The PAC isn't a super conference. The Big East is still on life support but alive and Texas A&M is still leaving the Big 12. Things may have calmed down now, but how long that will last is any one's guess. Also word is that the Big-12 wants BYU.

The Cardinals are still managing to be little teases. As of this posting they are just 2.5 behind the Braves. It's still unlikely they will make it in. But damn do they play with our emotions. taking 3 of 4 from Philly and all that. Tell you what if they do make it in I wouldn't want to play them. the Braves on the other hand are falling into the playoffs. Ask the Cards from a couple of years ago how that worked out.

The Rams blew it again. That Monday night game was very winnable for them. But stupid mistakes once again cost them. Oh and the inability to do anything in the red zone.It was a bad sign when they had fist down on the one yard line and couldn't punch it in. Between the 20's they could almost move it at will. Well let's just say things could have gone better for the Rams. They had every chance to win that game. Even into the second half they could still have done it. Injuries don't excuse stupid mistakes. Speaking of injuries. Jackson is out for the next game. Last someone told me our leading receiver from last year is out for a month. Our best corner is out for the year. Even Bradford hurt his finger. I mean holy shit man. On the upside they are taking on a team in the Giants next week who are worse of injury wise than they are. *crosses fingers*

The Cardinals refuse to stop cock-teasing us. We know in our hearts that they wont put out. But we can't help ourselves.

The Blues named David Backes as their 20th Captain in team history. And this one actually makes sense, as opposed to when they made Brewer the captain. Talk about forgettable. You wont see Brewer listed amongst the great Captains in Blues History.

I just saw 'The Social Network' recently. it's a good movie. And it's a good thing the movie doesn't really make you feel sorry for anyone (except maybe Eduardo). Because it's kind of hard to sympathize with a bunch of Harvard students and future billionaires. Even the end when they tried to portray Mark as 'lonely at the top'. Sans friends. Does anyone remember what Obama talked about in his so very important special joint session of congress speech? Then again did anyone get anything out of that speech the night he gave it either? The week leadign up to it the Dems were doing all they could to lower expectations. And afterwards even they were left wanting. Sorry Mr. President. You can't fix the countries problems by yelling at everyone else to just do what you want.And the only job he is trying to save with this is his own.

And how about former Rep. Wieners seat going to a Republican for the first time since the1920's? Talk about sending a shiver up the spines of Democrats. Because they know this was a referendum on Obama no matter how they try and spin it. If only more Dems Senators were up for election last year. Because that was the only thing they kept them in power. In 2012 though there are going to be many of them up. And they are scared shitless by what they are seeing. Despite their best efforts to demonize "the tea party" IE mainstream Americans.

Oh and you remember Solyndra? that solar company they went belly up recently despite half a billion form the Government (taxpayers)? Well congress is investigating them now. It might have something to do with them knowing almost from the start it would never work Despite what Obama said. Then again maybe he thought that just him praising them would shift the economic tides in their favor?

Is it sad that the President is going to give a major speech but all anyone really cares about is Football? Now this could be for several reasons. But I think the major one is the fact that we haven't had Football in months. While Obama giving a speech happens like once a week. And it is losing it's luster quick. Even the true believers are beginning to get tired of his approach to everything. Wait as long as possible before doing anything. And then most of the time it's a speech that has zero substance to it and he expects everyone else to do the actual work. I mean the administration doesn't have time for things like presenting budgets or confronting very series foreign and domestic issues. They need to spew thousands of regulations while the man himself prepares for his next election.

But enough of that. Let's get to the important stuff.

The Cardinals are a solid 9.5 games back after that glimmer of hope that some people saw last week. Keep chipping away fellas!

The NFL final cut day has come and gone. And the Rams shocked some people by dumping WR's Avery and Gillyard and keeping DX and Currey. Although Curry (Currey?) is a pure special teams player. But he is supposedly pretty good. So good for him. They also cut two of the free agents the signed this off season. One D-tackle and one OLB. I can't remember their names at the moment. And going to ESPN or a similar site is simply out of the question. Far too many clicks involved.

Questions still linger of course. Is uh oh going to be healthy for the start of the season? How is that whole corner situation coming along? Kind of thin at slot. And so on....

And I may have pointed this out before. (or maybe I just think it a lot) but does anyone else find it hilarious that Obama is going to announce a "job creation" plan when his own administration has admitted they don't see unemployment falling below 9% before the elections? So is he basically going to propose something they know wont work?

Of course for as often as he would like to compare himself to Regan, doing the exact opposite of him (economically speaking) and expecting the same results is either stupidity or insanity. Take your pick.

Of course every time you bring this up some true believer bring up that Obama has put all kinds of tax cuts in place. While failing to mention that nearly all of them are very targeted AND temporary. All the while he is enacting permanent spending and taxing increases elsewhere.

Well the preseason is over and now i think we are adequately prepared for some football! The Rams went 4-0. But that doesn't mean much. and may be a bad sign. The last several teams that went unbeaten in the preseason combined have like twice as many losses as wins. So let's make some history by having a winning record. Of course the big news for the Rams is that they resigned Mark Clayton. He will most likely be put on the "PUP" list and wont be available until week 6. Which is a bye week for the Rams so he will only miss 5 games. So it gives a couple of guys 5 weeks to show they belong on this team until he comes back.

Speaking of being on the team. The rosters have to be cut down to 53 by Saturday. Currently the Rams have 80. So expect to see the cuts start coming out in bunches starting later today. Of course everyone will be looking at WR. But there are a lot of ways the Rams could go with depth. Do they keep 4 tight ends? 8 O-Linemen? 9 D-line? All of it is connected of course. Many asses are going to be clenched over the next couple of days.

The Cardinals won three in a row over the Brewers. So now they are only 7.5 out! Yeah.....

BTW what is with all the ex-NHL players dropping dead this year? I mean holy shit man.

Let's take a look at our Cardinals watch. Ah they got hammered tonight 13-2. They are now 10 games behind the Brewers. They have lost 6 of 8 while the Brews have lost only like 3 times since the all-star break.

It might be over. Not that this is a new thing mind you. Since winning it all in 2006 they have been pretty pathetic. And this late season slide has been repeated at least three years in a row that I can recall. Even a couple years ago when they made the playoffs they backed in. They were out in 3 games.

At least we got the Rams to look forward to. Then again they didn't look so hot against the titans. They pretty much controlled the point of attack on both sides of the ball. Not a good sign. Plus the reviver situation doesn't seem any more cleared up. But it's only the second game of the pre-season. So no panic button. Yet.

Looks like ole Muammar in Libya is on the run. Not that he doesn't deserve it. But why do I get the feeling what follows him will be worse? Just like in Egypt. Well I did see something about them making the new country sharia based. And we know how well that has turned out everywhere else. Birds in the sky?

Well since last week the Cardinals have decided on the loser path. They are as of this posting 7 games out. Losing two against the Pirates of all people. And the fucking Brewers. The only two games they have lost in like their last 20 are to the Cards. These assholes manage to win multiple games they were trailing going into the last couple of inning. And the Cardinal manage to lose more extra inning affairs.

Oh well. I guess it's time to start thinking about what the team is going to look like next year. I suspect major overhaul is on the way. And if that is the case ole TLR might just decide it's time to hang em up. Or to move on. Oh well it was a good run. We even won it all in 2006.

If the Cards are on the way down then the Rams are on the way up. It was only the first pre-season game. but there were good signs of things to come. Also some bad signs. Particularity at wide receiver. But then again we had that last year. So it's not like it got worse. And we can look forward to many years of the Bradford Rams moving up. As long as the team doesn't go back to LA that is.

Looks like Microsoft is getting ready to launch Windows 8. This is going to be the new revolutionary one. Unlike the last few which you poor suckers bought. In all honesty has Microsoft made a decent operating system since XP? Since then how many have they come out with? And before that it was probably Windows 2000. So who knows this one might actually be good. They seem to come up with a good one every 3-5 tries.

Speaking of companies with too much money. Did I see recently that Apple is the most expensive stock out there? The Human Centipad can't be far behind. I just take small comfort in the fact that I have not helped contribute to Apple. Ever as far as I know. In fact I will go out of my way not to give them money. I'll flush it down the fucking toilet before buying that shit.

And I just saw that he Ruskies and India are developing a stealth Jet. Interesting bed-fellows. Combine that with China launching an Aircraft carrier and it spells a bad time to be slashing defense spending. Which is about the only thing the Dems can stand to cut. Because who can afford to defend themselves from outside threats when you are trying to create ~~mass dependence on the state for you day to day affairs~~ a socialist utopia?

Let's see. Riots are popping up all over merry old England because a gang member got shot by the cops. The US credit rating has been downgraded for like the first time ever. This of course is in no way the Obama administrations fault. And the Treasury Secretary who said back in April that it would never happen wont resign. The country looks like it's on the brink of going into yet another recession. People like Mark Levin have been saying we are in a depression for awhile now.

So what should I talk about first?

The Cardinals of course. They lost to the Brewers. Again. If they can take the next two they will have split their last 6 games with them. Great way to start a series after sweeping the Marlins in 4 straight. And they lost it in the 10th. have the Cards managed to win one fucking game in extra innings this year? I'm sure they have but I can't remember when. Oh well. Let's see what the next week brings. The Cards will either be right there. Or a half dozen (or more) games out.

The Rams. Oh those crazy Rams. Just when you think they are done they sign another linebacker. Ben Leber. He played for the vikings last year. This makes the third guy they have singed at outside LB this off season. So I guess this is goodbye for Na'il Diggs. The other two outside linebackers they have from last year can play special teams real well. So you got to figure at least one of them will make the team for that purpose.

You have to like what the Rams are doing. They added a couple big cogs with the guard and safety they signed. Then they added at least three more more starters with these LB's and DT's. Plus they added like a half dozen more cheap veterans that will help the depth on this team one way or another. Either by making the team or by pushing someone else to up their game so they don't get cut. Either way they have made the bottom end of this team a lot better. Hell how many players that they cut over the past few years are even playing in the NFL anymore? Now there is actual competition and expectations.

Now to the "fun" stuff. The Riots which started because a gang member got shot. Who happened to have a darker skin tone than you would associate with people in England. Well people of similar tone didn't like that. Not...one...bit. So they starting rioting (man this sounds very familiar). Of course this being a European socialist utopia that it is this quickly spread to the youth who are already well versed in mob mentality and tactics. That is like 101 for your typical enlightened youth in Europe. Of course this is also being aided by "social media". Because when you are an anti-corporate, anti-globalization, anti-whatever (because being outraged over something is also Enlightened socialist 101) nothing says "sticking it to the man" like using your Blackberry.

While all that is going on the deal of the fucking century was made on raising the debt ceiling over here. Of course this was followed up by more than one major group downgrading our credit rating. And if you believe some on the left this is the Tea Party's fault. Despite the fact that it has been made quite clear it is the massive debt the US now holds which is the problem. And without a major overhaul this was inevitable.

This doesn't stop the Obama administration and it's apologist (read: the entire government-media establishment) from trying to cast aspersions on the S&P as well. Because it's easy enough to latch on to a mistake they made rather than address your own problem. Or focus on the other groups downgrading you.

Hey didn't I just read the value of the dollar is plummeting because the Fed wont raise interest rates for two years? That makes perfect economic sense right? Nothing to do with politics. No sir!

Well the Cardinals continue to lose easily winnable game and win easily losable games. This is the most important stretch run of the season. Four of their next eight games are against the Brewers. If they really fuck this up this could be it for them. It doesn't help that their starting pitching has like the fewest quality starts in the league. Well I don't know about lowest. But it's bad. I mean Garcia hits a 3-run homer and the next inning he gives up one? Can't get out of the 5th fucking inning #2? Okay deep breaths. Don't want to end up blowing a gasket like Yadier.

The Rams haven't made a huge splash this off-season. But they are still making the small moves to improve overall. I think I will go over this more in depth next week. By then they should have pretty much made all of their acquisitions. After that it will be about who is getting released.

Well my internet connection has been a fickle bitch these last couple of days. I'm pretty sure it's something on my end. Which means spending money most likely. Joy. But then again if it wasn't that wouldn't be any good either. Just a whole other set of pain to deal with. So I'm fucked either way is what I'm saying.

Well in the week and a day since my last post all sorts of interesting things have happened.

Let's start with the Cardinals. They remembered how to win again and are once again in the lead of this powerhouse we call the central division. I'm sure next week we will be on the down slope again. it's just the way things are. But then again when you make an 8 player swap that could turn a few heads. I mean they pretty much got rid of the left side of their bullpen. including a guy they signed this off-season. And of course Colby Rasmus. Or as I like to call him, "The next JD Drew, if he is lucky". Say what you will about his pure potential and natural talent. The man had been relegated to a bench player recently. With no signs of improving anytime soon. Not as long as his daddy was his main coach anyways.

So what did the Cards give up? Their 4th outfielder. Two left-handers who couldn't get out left-handers and just a guy. In return they got a starting pitcher, a replacement 4th outfielder a guy who can get out lefties, and a guy. All in all it looks like a win for the Cards. With moving McClellan back into the pen things are starting to look up for their pitching at last.

In other news the fucking NFL lockout finally ended.(insert victory trumpets) And so far free-agency has turned into an orgy of contracts in these first two days. The Rams signed a safety who is supposed to be good. A 4-year deal. Good at stopping the run. So I'm guessing strong safety. Now the Rams just need a #1 receiver, a guard, a def. tackle an outside linebacker......well you get the idea. But the way things are going I don't think we will have to wait long to see the rest of their moves.

Well the Cardinals have become the masters of the cock tease. Just when you think they are going to put a good run together they pull back and lose 3 of 4. Well in the past week the Blues had made a slightly bigger splash. At least people might recognize these names. Jonathan Cheechoo, Jamie Langenbrunner and Jason Arnott. All three signed 1 year deals. A couple mil for Arnot and Langs. Cheechoo signed a two way deal for a maximum of 600k. Not bad work if you can get it huh? These signing would have been great 5-10 years ago. Now they are just some veterans to help with the leadership of the team and insurance because Perron is still having headaches. Well the Cheechoo is more for call up depth and taking a flier on him.

Oh well. No big splash this year in free agency or a trade (although a trade could still happen). But if Halak gets back in form I can see this team making a run into the playoffs. And with these vets on the team they have guys who have been there before. It's up to the young guys. A few who have been around long enough to no longer be called "young". Bakes I'm looking at you. Step up time.

Baseball is on it's All-Star break. I barely care enough about the All-Star game to type this sentence out. But the important thing is that despite everything at the (slightly past) halfway point the Cardinals are tied for first. Just ignore that they are like a game ahead of the Pirates. Just.....don't look.

I went and saw 'Horrible Bosses' Sunday. And this shocked me more than anyone. Because I haven't made it to a theater since 'The Dark Knight'. Thank God this movie was funny. I'm not sure where it would rank in my all time comedy list. I would need to see it a few more times. But it was worth seeing. Even if it cost me $9, plus $5 for a soda.

Most of the trailers were for films that I have zero interest in seeing. Ever. Including a Footloose remake for the love of. We (myself and the people I was with) should have watched the Transformers previews then gone to watch our movie. At least the previews would have been loud.

Well the Cardinals have managed to win a few games in this last week. They are now a game and a half ahead of the Pirates in first place. The Brewers are now two back. Take a moment for that to sink in. Not enough time? yeah we would be here all day and it wouldn't be enough to wrap our minds around the Pirates......ugh it hurts.

In good news it seems our first baseman whatshisname is back with the squad. Something like a month ahead of schedule. I wonder if this is due to his healing abilities or the clubs purposely overestimating the amount of time he would be gone? Anyone else they seem to do just the opposite. But with #5 I guess they play it WAY safe.

In what I would consider better news for the club, Chris Carpenter has gone 3-0 in his last 3 starts with a .75 era. I mean holy shit with what the bullpen has been up to recently we need him to go 8-9 every time he starts. The only guy in the pen who has shown any consistency is Salas. And thank goodness for that. You kind of need your closer to be good.

In hockey news the Blues are making a splash in free agency by signing Kent Huskins and Scott Nichol......

I just got done watching Toy Story 3 a little bit ago. It was okay. Not that I was very invested in it. I haven't seen the second one and only parts of the first one. So maybe I wasn't the target audience for it? In related news I have watched Jaws twice in as many days. Now THAT is a classic. Oh Quint, you went out kicking (and screaming).

It looks like the Government caught the guy who was the inspiration for Jack Nicholson's character in The Departed. James "whitey" Bulger. And they are charging him with 19 counts of murder. Ouchies.

Things went well around here over the holiday, celebration wise. No one missing fingers and such. I can't say the same for everyone else. Taking a peak over at Drudge I see a whole list of stories about people being shot, riots etc. Also I say 'celebration wise' because on Sunday we had a nasty storm that knocked out power right as we were sitting down for some afternoon holiday BBQ diner. And the power stayed off for around 14 and a half hours. And the cause? Some limbs on lines. But that isn't the worst part. The worst part was seeing people across the street and one street over having power. Apparently by 9 at night the block that I live on was the only one in the city not to have power. And for some reason they decided to wait till almost 7 in the morning to get those pesky limbs removed.

Well the Cardinals finally managed to win a game. After losing like 12 of 15. Add to that they are only one game ahead of the Pirates. The Pirates. But amazingly enough only 2 back of the Brewers. I think this speaks quite clearly about the level of play in the NL central this month.

The NHL draft has come and gone. And since I didn't hear about the next big thing I will assume we will have to wait to see if any of these guys pan out.

As for the NFL? Who knows.

I haven't really been paying attention to gaming news recently. But today I saw a trailer for the new Twisted Metal. Looks sweet. Almost makes me wish I had a PS3. Almost. But I stopped at the good ole PS1. But lucky for me some of my favorite games are on that system. Including Twisted Metal 2. Now that was a fun fucking game. I like to use Warthog BTW. One of my brothers likes to use Specter, and that fucking homing, fly though walls, bullshit missile of his. Well suck on a freeze ray jackass and feel three missiles of pure ass-kicking coming your way.

Also the 4th is coming up. So I hope no one shoots their eye out or blows up their hands or something stupid like that. Let me put it this way. Well the Cardinals took a giant shit in the 8th inning. Giving up nine run. Apparently no one could throw a strike or get someone to swing at a bad pitch. Of particular note is Motte. Who hit both batters he faced. The Phillies managed to score those nine runs without an extra base hit. Nine walks and two hit batters will do that I guess.

Of course getting blown out late in a game kind of pales to losing #5 for a good month. Now I know he hasn't been having his best year. But damn this club can't afford to have anyone out for an extended period of time. If they can make it through this next month and still be at or near the top of the division? Then they have to win it all. What else would there be to overcome?

I may have been a bit optimistic about the NFL talks. Figures.

The NHL draft is coming up. The Blues don't have a first round draft pick this year. But that is okay for a couple of reasons. One this isn't exactly a top heavy draft. Picking 50th is probably as good as 10th (according to some). Secondly this was the pick that was part of the deal that brought Shattenkirk and Stewart to the Blues. So it's not like it went to waste.

Hey remember last week when the Cardinals were in first place and had the most wins in the Majors? Well they have lost 4 in a row. including getting swept by the team right behind them. In fact in their last series with the Reds and the Brewers they have gotten swept. Not good fellas. And just today (yesterday) they had a 6-1 lead over that powerhouse the Nationals in the 7th inning. When for some reason they take out Garcia and put in Batista. Who then proceeds to give up 5 runs in 2/3's of an inning. They lost 8-6 of course.

On a related note. How the hell is Batista still pitching for this team? He hasn't been as obvious as Franklin. Because the blowing saves thing does stick out. But what has this guy done other than give up runs and blow leads? Then again Franklin is still pitching for this team so why should I be surprised?

In possible good news the latest word is that the NFL and the players are talking again. I don't think anyone really wants to miss out on even a part of the season.

I am not a big NBA fan but I must give kudos to the Mavericks. if for nothing else than beating the Lebrons....er Heat.

It's also fun to see the NHL finals go to a 7th game. And I am rooting for the Bruins. Because fuck the Canucks right?

On a related note, it's nice to see the Blues resigning players to reasonable contracts. No outrageous salaries or numbers of years. The biggest so far has been Roman Polak. A 5 year deal at roughly 2.75 mil a year. For a mostly stay at home D-Man this may seem a bit much. But when compared to other similar D-Men and the numbers they are getting? More than one person has said this deal will be a bargain in years 3-5.

Now if they could only get an owner.

“We have 12 million undocumented immigrants in this country that are part of the backbone of our economy and this is not only a reality but a necessity," she said. "And that it would be harmful--the Republican solution that I’ve seen in the last three years is that we should just pack them all up and ship them back to their own countries and that in fact it should be a crime and we should arrested them all.”

Notice how these idiots always want to change the language? It's not "illegal immigrants" it's "undocumented workers". As if they have some right to be here but they just lost their license or something. Of course this moron is pretty much gold for stupid comments like “If it were up to the candidates for president on the Republican side, we would be driving foreign cars; they would have let the auto industry in America go down the tubes.”, while driving a Japanese car. In rather depressing news. With the death toll in Joplin, MO always seeming to be on the rise, it now makes 2011 the deadliest year for tornadoes since the 50's. And it just turned June.

But it is heartwarming to see people give and help out in force. Sources say that there was a line of people waiting to get in and help with heavy equipment. And that they were being held up because of paperwork. You know the usual Government BS. It seems someone down there grew a few braincells and went "fuck it" (well maybe not those exact words) and has let them in.

My work schedule has changed and it has been interfering with my remembering to update this blog amongst other things. Because let me say this. Spring?

Another chilly and rainy week is unfolding here. Now I knew this was coming. In fact I knew the entire spring was going to be like this. But still to be in the latter half of May and still be in this crap is depressing. Somehow I get the feeling we are going to go from cold and rainy to hot and dry. Who knows, maybe we will get a couple weeks of spring in June? But I'm not hopeful.

In slightly better news. After taking a giant shit in their series with the Red the Cardinals have remembered how to win again. They are a half game back last I saw. Still waiting for #5 to turn it on.

Also I think that Hockey tourney in Slovakia is over with. Maybe. All I do know is that some Blues players did well. Very well. Hopefully they take that well play and turn it into very good play here next season. We will need it. because I don't see this team landing a big free agent. I'm not even sure there is a big free agent to be had. Not that I have looked. I'll wait until after the playoffs.

Speaking of the NHL playoffs. The only thing that makes me feel happy other than St. Louis winning. Is seeing Chicago and Detroit losing. My hate of those two teams helps keep me warm at night. I am not a Sharks fan. But I was during that last series. As it is I think I want Boston to win. Because the thought of rooting for a team from the west sickens me.

Well after sitting here for some time waiting for the this damn site to finish it maintenance I can finally post. I am rather tired now, so if my post is even more incoherent than normal I apologize in advance.

First off it appears Tony La Russa has the shingles. He missed the last game and who knows how long he will be out. And with something that sounds like it involves drywall. Apparently it is an extremely painful thing to have. Not having had shingles myself, or knowing anyone who did I wouldn't know. I don't know if it was that or the rain delay that caused the Cardinals to get absolutely stomped by the Cubs of all people. The Cubs.

Of course all that pales in comparison to #5 hugging the Cubs GM. Now I am not one of these old school people who thinks that players should not even talk to each other out there. Tis the season for thunder storms. Lots of tornadoes popping up left and right. Around here they managed to get the airport mostly up and running after a couple days. But we got off lucky. The last I saw there are still no reported fatalities for the St. Louis area storms.
Others are not so lucky. Who knew that those storms would just be the opening bell for the shit that hit the fan now? I just looked and 72 people are reported dead from about 138 twisters. Damn. Although the cynic in me wonders just how long it will be before the "global ~~warming~~ climate change" folks blame this on human activity? These are supposed to be the enlightened. And yet here we are being asked to make sacrifices to appease the mother earth and stay her wrath.

Can I be the only one who can't seem to muster up two shits about Obama's birth certificate? It's a little late to kick him out of office. And even if it were proven he wasn't a US citizen he isn't going anywhere. So this is all distraction. In fact Trump is pure distraction. His entire media blitz. We have real problems in this country. Obama and his ilk are trying to destroy us. I just wonder if they are aware of it or are they just blinded by ideology? Either way it's very very bad.

So driving around I hear on the radio that the new Apple 3g network crap tracks your movements. The iwhatever will track your movements and timestamps them and places it in a secret file that is then stored on your computer when you sync them. Now this isn't new tech. In other news, it looks like two "photojournalist" died in Libya. Now I feel for the families. But you have to expect these sort of things happening when you plop down in the middle of a civil war. "Well we never saw that coming".

Deep Hurting

The St. Louis Blues have one more game left on the schedule. And thank goodness for that. Let the hurting stop. They went on a little run there the last 13 or so games. But you knew it was all for pride. Just one more game and the team (which is near the salary cap floor) can begin to think about next year. And hopefully it is a much healthier year. I think anyone would be loathe to use injuries as an excuse. But this Blues team was young and not very deep as an organization. Not deep because they are so young. All the depth was already here. And oh boy did the injuries shit-pile one on top of another this season. You compare their first 12 games with let's say the moth of January. It's like two completely different teams. Oh well, even if they don't sign a huge free agent maybe just being healthy will do the trick. Although I suspect they will bring in one or two guys. Hell they have the cap space.

As one deep hurting is ending it seems another is just beginning. The Cardinals haven't been able to get the bats out of their asses. Because runs have been sorely lacking this first couple of weeks. Now it's not time to hit the panic button. Yet. But scoring runs is what this team should be able to do. Even if they can't pitch on some nights. But no it's the O that has been the problem. Okay what the hell is going on with Libya? Does anyone have a clue what the objective is over there? The US, Britain and France are leading the charge. But as of yet no one seems to have a clue. hell they don;t even know who is going to be in charge of the damn operation. One thing we do know is that Obama wants no part in being in charge of this. Way to take the reins of leadership there BO. Back home no one has a clue either. It seems both sides of Congress are either confused, upset or both. I blame this all on a lack of leadership.

At home things are going from bad to worse. Energy and food prices continue to rise. New home sales hit their lowest point since we started keeping track of those things in the 60's. How is that Obama recovery working out for you by the way? And there is still no budget and may not be one any time soon.

It seems like every week there is some new terrible thing that happens. So while we still have that civil war thingy going on in Libya, record food price jumps and a continuing budget battle. That all takes a back seat to the catastrophe that happened in Japan. It's no wonder some people just disconnect completely We all do it to some extant. And don't let some douche-bag tell you they don't. You wouldn't be able to get out of bed in the morning if you didn't. It has to be a time and distance thing. Someone getting shot in my neighborhood affects me more than thousands of people dying on the other side of the world. And someone I know getting into an accident even more so. It doesn't mean you don't feel for those people. It's just there is nothing you can do about it and it really doesn't affect your daily life. So you look at the TV or a newspaper and then you get on with your day.

Getting back to Japan. Fuck. the death toll just keeps rising doesn't it? I mean whole towns wiped out. Then again it was one of most powerful recorded earthquakes followed up by a devastating tsunami. And of course you have the problems with the Nuke reactors. I don't really know what to say about that. They took a massive hit (a double whammy) but I still think a Chernobyl is unlikely. The reactors we were making 40 years ago are a cut above what the Soviets were doing around that time. Although I can see the left-wing nuts having a field day with this. Just like they did with the Gulf Oil spill. Man does that seem like a lifetime ago. Well not for the oil workers still out of a job because the Obama administration wont issue permits. But I digress.

The economy is still limping along. Food prices are jumping. So are energy prices. These two things are related BTW. Congress can't seem to pass a budget. (and boy do we need some actual Republican leadership in the House). But hey Obama is busy filling out his tournament bracket then heading off to Rio. So the day has finally arrived. The Albert Pujols contract talks have come to an end. And apparently they were not even close on a deal. As an icon #5 is irreplaceable. As a player he is still irreplaceable. But for how many years? Do you really want to pay a player in his late 30's 30 mil a year? That is something the Cardinals were simply not willing to do. Sure they could have paid him. But what kind of team would you have around him? and once his numbers start taking the big dip, and they will eventually, they would be stuck.

Oh well. As a fan I will be sad to see him go. But I do understand the Cards reasoning. Memories......

It's at the point in the NHL season when you start asking "are we sellers or buyers"? And I love my Blues. And I desperately want them to make the playoffs. I was watching the five day forecast tonight and I saw that it is supposed to get into the 50's by Sunday. I could have cried. I was ready for this winter to be over before the last foot of snow we got. Hopefully these nice temperatures stick around for awhile and get rid of that massive mound of snow sitting where I normally park. Sure I could grab a shovel and dig it out. Then again I could drive off a bridge. Well if we get another foot of snow I think the bridge thing is more likely at this point.

The Blues have gotten 5 of their last 6 possible points. Not bad for a team that won like 2 games in the month of January.

The Superbowl was Sunday. And that is about all I have to say about the game. Although how bad must it have sucked if you were one of the people who went to the game and then got kicked out by the Fire Marshal? Hey you probably paid a grand to be here today? took all that time out of your schedule to see one of your teams play? Sorry go sit in the parking lot. Here is a ticket for next year. Well we managed to survive the Snowaclypse. Or Snowmageddon as I liked to call it. We did not lose power. Nor resort to cannibalism. Although it was a bit chilly when I woke up and I almost split someones skull open to eat the warm goo inside. Well we dodged a bullet. And it does feel off to say that considering we got a foot of snow on top of at least an inch of ice. And let me tell you that was fuuuuuuuuuuuuun cleaning off my car and shoveling out of the way so I could even leave. Yeah let me break my back for a good 45 min then go to work. Fan fucking tastic.

It was so bad the Blues canceled a game. Although it may have been for the best. They can't lose if they don't play!

In other more depressing news. It seems Albert Pujols wants 10 years $300 million. Now I know he is great. And I love the guy. But you can't be paying him $30 mil 10 years from now. I would feel iffy paying him that 6 years from now. Let's face it. He is at or just passing his prime. And the numbers on players age don't lie. He only has a few prime years left. Not to mention his numbers have gone down the last three seasons in a row. It's a trend I don't see taking a significant break anytime soon. Seven years from now you can't pay a guy who used to be the best in the game $30 mil a season. You just can't. So Obama had his State of the Union Address the other day. I didn't watch or listen to it. But apparently he talked about the usual crap. Green energy and the like. Of course what they really mean by "green" is your green in the form of Government subsidies. Because none of this shit can function in the free market. Does this not speak about it viability? The moment the money stops being pumped into these massive failures they shockingly fail. Shocking I know.

Another note on the speech. Apparently he lifted many lines from past speeches. Someone said it read like a 'best of' SoTU

The more potential jurors they summon the worse the case will be. So if you show up and their are 30 it will probably be a civil case. If you show up and it's like 60-70? Just take your clothes off and run screaming through the halls. Because you do NOT want to be anywhere near that case.

Damn you local Weather Man. You said December would be the worst month for snow. Now two thirds of the way through January we get smacked like a mouthy Irish wife. It's cold as fuck and we are getting dumped on. I am so ready for this winter to be over. And here I thought we didn't have to worry about this anymore with Global Warming? Well try harder, because it obviously isn't working.

Obviously this means many schools will be closed tomorrow. Of course nowadays they close school if it gets too cold. One would think fear of lawsuits would be the main reason why. It wasn't always like this. And not that long ago. I think the shift happened when I was in High School. When I was a kid riding the bus if there was lots of snow we would have snow routs. And since I lived in the boonies we had to get rides to school. But some time in High school I can still remember several students getting in accidents during the same morning. After that they got a little more free with their closings.

Well in slightly good news the Blues have finally won a game this year. Right now they are like 12th in the West. But still.

The Rams hired a new offensive coordinator after the one they had went to coach the Browns. I think. I haven't really been paying attention.

Well this post is a bit (lot) later than normal. Maybe it's because I had a rough day yesterday. The Rams playoffs start Sunday. They win and they are in. Lose and well....it's a better draft pick.

Isn't it comforting to know that without the approval of Congress the Obama administration is pushing ahead with Cap & Trade? Who needs laws when you can just declare the thing you want to regulate a pollutant so you can use an existing law such as the clean air act to bypass the democratic process and take that next big socialist step?

I have said it before but i will say it again "Global Warming" (or whatever they are calling it this week) is the biggest hoax of our time. It is simply another means for control. Every time a Government makes a new law/regulation concerning this it does a few things. Makes us poorer by raising the prices on goods/services. Not to mention increased taxes. Work is beating me down this week. I wish I could say it was because of Christmas. But it isn't. Needless to say the fall/s I took last week are still fucking with me. A week later and I am still limping around like a jackass. It really hasn't helped that we had two people "leave the company" recently. Then again this is also the season of depression. What is it about this time of year that causes some people to go nuts? It's mentally exhausting for the rest of us at the very least. So I got that going for me. Which is nice.

Well enough of that shit. Let's talk Rams. Specifically they have been playing like shit the past few weeks. But hey it's the NFC West so they are still in it. They are in control of the division shockingly enough. All they have to do is win their last two games and they are in. But who knows what will happen. Maybe the season has finally caught up with them? It's amazing that they managed six wins with the amount of injuries they have had. Considering the lack of talent on the team to begin with. One can only wonder if they have anything left in the tank for the last two weeks. It's been three weeks since Bradford has thrown a TD. To go along with 5 interceptions. Not great numbers for someone looking to make a playoff run. Oh well someone pass the pepto for the next couple of weeks.

The Cardinals have still not signed #5. They have until spring training before things get ugly. So baited breath and all that.

The Blues are still playing like they want to miss the playoffs by a just couple of points.

But before we go on let us take a moment to remember Leslie Nielsen. When you think of him you can't help but start to smile. All those terrible movies he made. And I loved the shit out of them.

Well on with the show.
The Blues continue to be streaky. And not in a good way. Win 3 lose 4 then lose 3 again. It's not good. They need a little consistency. because if they keep this up those 4 game streaks will become 6-7 or more. And before you know it they will fall out of the Western Conference. In the east they might be fine. But the West is another matter.

The Rams are not much better. Out of all the teams in the NFC West they are the most consistent. But sometimes the effort isn't enough. The team is young and has lots of injuries. Sometimes they just fall short. It seems like every 4th quarter is a nail-biting hair-pulling affair. Win or lose.

St. Louis sports are going to give me a ulcer before Spring training.

Most of my present buying life I did 75% of my shopping on Christmas eve. And in some cases that spilled over into Christmas morning. And it has never been a problem. Of course a couple years ago I decided to become the one who gives people money. I had an Uncle who did that when I was a kid. He had it figured out. Buy one or two presents for who you have to. Then money for everyone else. Put it in an envelope with their name on it and instant present that you can use anywhere. The best part? Now no one expects me to buy them a present and it has taken most of the work out of the holiday season. So i can fucking relax on Black Friday or any other day of this holiday season.

Let the suckers freeze their asses off and fight some other smuck over the GI Joe with the kung-fu grip. I'll be relaxing by the fire. And by fire I mean my computer.

On this day of giving thanks we should all take a step back and consider what we are thankful for. Sure things are bad. I don't have to tell you that. Unemployment is still over 9% last time I looked. And it's not going to go down anytime soon. The largest tax increases in history are going to start coming down the pike starting January 1. The Government is still seeking more control over our daily lives. Lord only knows what shit they will try and pull in the lame duck session. Not to mention messing with the dollar in a very dangerous way that had even the Chinese calling us out. On the international front Iran and N. Korea are ramping up the tension (hello nukes). China and Russia seem hell bent on doing something that is probably not for our benefit. More euro countries are on the brink of economic collapse. Hello Ireland I am talking about you. On a more personal level I will have to buy a new ride soon. And the Rams have lost two in a row.

So what is there to be grateful for?

Well if you live in the United States, even if you are not doing so hot, you are still more free and better off than pretty much the rest of the world. The Republicans took control of the house. So the likelihood of even more terrible legislation being passed in the next two years goes down greatly. They can also start investigating all the things the Dems just glossed over or ignored. Basically stop the bleeding so things do not get worse.

Also the Blues have won three in a row after losing five. So hopefully they have gotten over the hump caused by the major injuries they have suffered. Not that they can replace the lost players. But they can learn to deal with it. Halak getting his head straight will help this greatly.

On a more personal level I am thankful that I still have family members to celebrate this holiday with. For those of you who don't? Keep you head up and look straight ahead. Because as a certain Tom Hanks movie taught us. "Tomorrow the sun will rise".

I have recently read the latest book in the 'Wheel of Time' series. "Towers of Midnight". This is the second book by the guy who took over after Robert Jordan kicked the bucket. I enjoyed it very much. Although you need a spreadsheet and a slide-rule to keep track of the timeline on the damn thing. I still don't know how they are going to resolve a few very large plot threads in the last book. Oh well one more year until the final book in the series. Hopefully it lives up to the hype.

Lisa Murkowski has declared victory in Alaska. She should thank the people who got her elected. Idiots and Democrats. But I guess I didn't have to say it twice.

A much longer interlude

Well first things first. Humm, Now that I think about it do you ever hear anyone say first things second. Or last?
Whatever. Well the Blues are red hot. They won seven in a row. Best team in the league. So of course they get assaulted 8-1 last night. Maybe it was inevitable. Half the starting defense out. And one of your best scorers. The power play is abysmal so far. Hopefully this is a wake up call and a one off. Not a sign of things to come.

Mizzou took a big shit on their chances to win the Big 12 North. No B12N. No chance at a B12 Title game. No BCS Bowl. Oh well, if they can win out they will still get a decent game.

Now on to the recap.

A week later and a few things are apparent. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama are either insane or very good liars. How else do you explain how they can think this wasn't fallout form their policies? Nancy presided over the largest Republican takeover since the late 30's. Over 60 seats. Holy hell. And this crazy bitch wants to hold onto power with the house dems? Harry Reid didn't have quite that disaster. Only losing six seats. But even the NY Times admitted going into the election it was a pure numbers game. If the entire Senate had been up for re-election then the losses would have been similarly massive on that side of things. Just because he has allies in the union thugs in Nevada he thinks he has a mandate now or something.

And of course we have Obama. No of course it wasn't backlash because everything you said was going to happen with the economy hasn't. Of course any real economist (and not some liberal keynesian douche) could have told you this would be the case. No, no it was a problem of those stupid voters who just didn't understand what good you were doing for them. They don't really hate what you fucks are doing. They just became confused and apathetic.

Also that bitch in Alaska should have had the fucking good graces to step the fuck back when she lost in the primary. Okay honey you had a few good years because daddy gave you a Senate seat. Now let someone who actually wins a primary go ahead. Oh and way to back up Joe Miller you Senate assholes. Yeah run attack adds against the Democrat. The guy who never had a shot at winning. Well now that the Yankees are out of it I really don't care about the Baseball playoffs. Because without the Cardinals in it the Yanks NOT being in it is the next best thing. Well for those paying attention at home the uh..... Giants beat the...the...Rangers 11-7. Good for them fellas. Although honestly I can't wait until it's over. Stop messing with my Sunday night lineups.

The Rams continue to be all over the place. The Blues are kicking ass at home so far this season. A road win would be nice though. The Penguins must be glad they probably wont see Halak again this year.

The Missouri Tigers kicked some major ass against Oklahoma. And if it wasn't for a couple of really bad special teams plays the score would not have even been close. Next up is Nebraska at Nebraska. Not an easy feat. Mizzou should already be in the top 5 (they are #6) but if they go there and win you are looking at #4 most likely. National contenders baby!

The UK is doing something that we should be doing over here. Massive Government Budget cuts. Raising the pension age by a year. Some rather drastic cuts all around. Estimates say that it will trim over 500,000 Government jobs in the next couple of years. Of course it's needed. The problem for all the western countries is overspending by the various Governments. Hell here in the US we have to borrow 30-40% of what the Feds spend already. It is said they will always find ways to spend whatever money they get. And in our case and then some. If any of us lived our lives like the Western Governments do we would be on the street or in jail in no time. Public sector Unions are the bane of Local, State and Federal budgets.

Hell in France there are strikes, protest and even riots because they want to push op the retirement age from 60-62. Oh dear lord in heaven whats next? You only get one month of paid vacation time a year? This is what happens when you make an entitlement society and then when realization of the money problem hits, the sheeple you created resist having the Government teat pulled away from them even a little bit.

It seems the can has been kicked down the road for as long as it could. But the cliff face is coming soon.

The Blues have lost their last two games in the shootout. The last one was particularly painful . A two goal lead with like 10 min left in the game. Ugh. Well the got Chicago (again) and Pittsburgh coming in this weekend. So they can turn it around against the best. Or get put in a bit of a hole early in the season.

The Missouri tiger (MIZZOU!!) Are ranked #11 in the BCS this week. Taking on #1 Oklahoma. Nationally televised game. Lots on the line. A very bad recent history of losing against them for the Tigers. If they can win it they will be considered "for real" and legit contenders. If they lose? Well par for the course. They are not an elite team yet.

Well we had such high hopes for the Rams. Well not really. But we figured they could at least beat the winless Lions. So much for that. Not only did they not score a touchdown. They got simply hammered by the Lions offense. So much for only giving up only 16 points a game. but worst of all? The guy they brought in to replace their #1 reviver (and not doing a bad job of it) because he is out for the year? Well he is injured and out for the year now. Joy of Joys. Okay maybe 5 wins this year.

In better news the Blues are off to a nice start. Winning the first two at home. The goalie has looked good. I still wish we had DJ King. I'm a bit worried about the power play. They managed like 2 goals in 20 some opportunities. They will need that PP going if they want to make the playoffs. But all in all? Happy.

In even better news those 33 trapped minors were finally freed from deep under Neverland Ranch.

All joking aside it's rather amazing that they managed to keep it together for the 17 days before anyone even knew they were alive. After about 5 I think I would have started with the skin eating. Scientists have been busy recently. Real ones not the Government paid fear mongers. 200 new species discovered in Papua New Guinea and 145 in the Greater Mekong region (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and parts of China). They are just silly giddy with excitement over these as you can imagine. Of course once they find these they pretty much want to declare them endangered. Because you can only find these things in these specific areas. The Mekong is pretty bad for this. Lots of Asians dontcha know?

And the Rams are still winning. Hell they might even make it three in a row at Detroit. The national media has even jumped on the bandwagon. Sam Bradford is the second coming! Super Bowl here we come!! Okay maybe not. But still it's nice to see some actual positive attention paid to the boys in the gold pants. Rather than that pat on the head mocking attention they have been paid recently. Where if you were one of the few teams that have lost to them in the past oh 3 years you would say "we were beat by the Rams. The Rams." But no more. If you get beat you say "That Rookie QB is the real deal" or something else like that. Who knows they may only win 5-6 games this year. But we have seen the light at the end of the tunnel. And we don't think it is a train this time. And in the Rams division 7 wins might get you in the playoffs.

Well since our last update a few things have happened. The cardinals have officially been eliminated from the playoff. And the Rams won a game. And believe me six months ago I would have never guessed the Cards would be eliminated from the playoffs. Let alone in the same week as the Rams actually winning a game. As it is the Cardinals took a big shit on their season. And the Rams could have been 3-0 at this point. Has the world gone mad?

Apparently. Because the Discovery channel is suing Captains Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand from the show "Deadliest Catch" for 3 million Dollars. Something about a spin off show about the Cap's. They left the show (understandably) because of this. Sig Hansen joined them in leaving. Well shit. with Capt. Phil dead and those three gone who is going to pick up the "crabbing for our amusement" slack?

Comedian Greg Giraldo died from a prescription drug overdose. First Heath Ledger now Greg? Who will we lose next to this menace?

In other news Congress has decided to take a break from work. Now this is normally a good thing. Because every day congress is in session we lose a little bit more freedom (Hopefully the 2010 elections begin to change that). And sure they have a lot of campaigning to do. That is until the irritation builds up to a boiling point. At which point you have to break off or go insane. You can meet far too many of these people in real life. But the internet means you can meet multiple of these type of people nightly. I do enjoy messing with these people. You can almost see the rage building up in their replies as you engage them. I do this on a nearly nightly basis in some sort of mad-scientist high as I toy with these illogical monkeys. But as I do this it does hit me that if these people can't vote yet (it is hard to tell by the maturity level) that they will be able to one day. And lord knows this "it's true if I believe it" line of thinking smacks of a current or future Democrat voters. At that point I had to stop and weep silently for about an hour or so.

Of course the inverse of that insane stupidity is the know it all Democrats. These people are the major douchebags of our world. Quoting their favorite Keynesian economics professor with all their other smug friends in a coffee shop in a storm of self-satisfaction. These are the type of people who apply to sayings like "It's take a collage education to think of an idea that stupid". These people are the followers of one Marxist professor or another. Professors who don't really live in the real world. Sitting in their tenured funded homes talking to all their Marxist buddies about how Free markets and Capitalism are bad. And how they think they can do better because they are so fucking brilliant. Well I guess election season has officially started. There were a number of primaries held this week. The most significant of which has to be Christine O’Donnell beating Mike Castle in Delaware for the Republican nomination for Joe Biden's vacant US Senate seat. This one was rather brutal. With basically the entire republican machine working against her, O'Donnell kicked ass. Why were they so against her? Well because they have this idea that she is unelectable. Which is funny because they said she could never win the Primary. Then again they have said this about every "tea-party" candidate. And if I were a betting man I would say most of the ones that will be on the ballot this November will win.

You have to remember that these people who have been "inside the beltway" for ages like to work with people they know. Principle be dammed. They are political strategist. Who claim loudly that "radical right-wingers" can't be elected. What did these people give us? People like John McCain and Arlen Spector. And wow are these "moderates" electable. Just look at 2006 and 2008. Right? Really worked out huh?

Congress needs term limits. Simple as that. Vote these career politicians out.

The Dems are running away from their votes, each other and even their party affiliation in a desperate bid to win. It wont help. Sorry.

Google continues to take over everything Internet with something called "instant" (more like 'annoying' amirite?) and with business plans like having Google become the "Third half of your brain". I have no clue what that means or if it makes any sense. But it sounds bad and wrong. It's badong.

Well enough of this bull. let's get to the good news. Baseball! The Cardinals are right in the thick of things and the race is heating up....and...oh wait sorry. That is what I would be saying if the Cards hadn't taken a big shit on their season recently.

Well a week later and I don't think the Cardinals have won a game. Six in a row and something like 13 of 16. I think this is the definition of free fall. A wildcard would be a minor miracle at this point. Oh well it was fun to watch New England struggle against the Rams last week. For a couple of reasons. 1. That is probably the best they are going to play all year. And 2. Just seeing the Pats suffer is it's own enjoyment. I don't care who is doing it. Kind of sad ole Tom Brady was in till the 4th quarter and they still lost.

Hurricane Earl has the outer banks of NC on high alert. If you have never been it is quite beautiful. Plenty of beaches. Historic sites like Kitty Hawk. Drive through liquor stores. But not the best place for a hurricane. You basically cross a mile long bridge to set up shop on an overly large sand dune. Everyone close the "Brew-Through" Earl is a coming.

So I'm watching this show 'Most Evil' on one of the Discovery type channels. With episodes titles like "Masterminds" and "Attention seekers". Michael Stone a forensic psychiatrist from Columbia University is the expert on this show. And he created a ...well, a scale of evil that goes from 1-22. 1 being killing someone in self defense (not murder) to 22, your basic torturing, raping and maybe eating type bad guy. And damn if this show doesn't suck you in. Waiting to see what number he gives each killer. Sure you have all the famous ones showing up. Ted Bundy (17), Manson (15) , BTK (22) and the like. But also plenty I had never seen before, like H. H. Holmes (22). He may have killed over 200 people. So it is educational in that sense. Not something I would let the kids watch. Hell easily disturbed adults might not want to watch it.

Well enough of the macabre. And on to Nancy Pelosi. Oh shit...that is even worse. Well let's just grit our teeth and get through this. Seems the Speak wants to investigate the critics of the Ground Zero mosque. Quote Nancy "There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how ... this opposition to the mosque is being funded,". When people called her out on this she released a statement along the lines of "oh yeah i guess we should investigate who is funding that mosque as well". Gee thanks Nancy. Oh and Al Gore wants to start some big protest movement because congress isn't acting on that whole "climate change" emergency. So I keep seeing studies about how the average federal worker earns twice as much as a private sector worker. State and local workers also earn slightly more on average. Now while there is a lot of context in these numbers. IE people who do similar jobs are probably a bit closer than that. It does raise an interesting point about a problem we all have. Star and Federal employees (who are members of public sector unions) get paid better than you and me. And they have benefit packages that far outweigh ours. And we are the ones who ultimately pay for all of it with out tax dollars. The Governor of NJ is currently at war with the teachers union. Let's hope he wins that battle. New Jersey is in ridiculous debt. And the teachers unions cry how it's bad for the children if they have to pay 1% into their health insurance. God help them all.

Speaking of the Brits. They are getting ready to start a new "green tax" scheme . Which basically boils down to creating a massive new bureaucracy that oversees companies carbon output and energy use. And taxes those that go over whatever arbitrary limit some suit sets. Great going guys. You need to kick start the economy. But don't let that stop you from punishing business for regulation and tax money that will do squat for the environment.

So here in Missouri the voters rejected the Obamacare mandates forcing people to buy private insurance and the penalties associated with that by passing Prop C. By 71% no less. Missouri joins states like Arizona, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Virginia and Oklahoma. But Missouri was the first one to put it to a statewide vote.

Headline from the Washington post "British government moves to dramatically cut public funding for the arts". They are going to cut everything they can over there to try and not collapse like Greece. Yet they wont touch Health Care for the most part. Which is probably the single largest tax burden. Seems like a plan doomed for failure if you ask me. But to be fair they are tweaking how they run HC over there. Much less central planning and more local control. Hopefully that is the first step towards getting rid of the Health Service altogether.

So the Mel Gibson saga continues. It seems now Mel has proof Oksana tried to extort money from him by holding these tapes over his head. And furthermore the judge in their case is rather pissed at her lawyer for not disclosing a previous agreement before he came in and asked for a restraining order. The problem being that she admits nothing has happened between them in months. And between that time and the court date (in June) they had reached a $15 million agreement.Then they asked for a restraining order. And released these tapes. The Judge BTW ordered the tapes sealed.

I don't think Mel can come back from this. But I think the Russian might be going down as well. Who knows who will end up with the kid? Last I read Mel was selling his houses in New York and LA and was moving back to Australia with his Ex-Wife. So after everything he might end up with the kid. Good time huh?

So in completely pointless news they are changing Wonder Woman's costume. I am not sure why this is a story. A comic book character changing costumes happens all the time. And if something is iconic they inevitably go back to it. I suspect that ole Wondy will be back in her hot little getup sooner rather than later. Hell this is just clothing. One has to love the way the Obama administration works. They use a group of experts opinions in a report as a pretext for stopping all off-shore oil drilling. It turns out they never recommended anything like that. After they had signed off on the report the Obama administration added in a couple of paragraphs. Because no one would notice right? Opps. Well a judge threw out the ban. Undeterred the Interior Secretary will issue new guidelines blocking drilling. Press forward Obama! Don't let anything stop you from destroying the offshore oil industry in this country.

So as we sit here it seems Spain is rapidly heading down the same road as Greece. With Portugal not far behind. I saw a comment on an article discussing this and it rang out so clear and concise that it made my heart shudder with the sheer simple brilliance of it all. It basically went "When will these countries learn some basic rules of economics. You can't have a society based on borrowing money".

Greece, Spain and Portugal are just the most prominent examples. The UK, Italy and others are not doing so hot. And even the smaller countries that are rather smug in there "we make socialism work" attitude. Well no you don't. Just because it will take longer for you doesn't mean we can't see the end game. Then again once the domino's in Europe start to fall there is going to be hell to pay for everyone.

We here in the US of A are not immune. If Europe falls it will hit us and the rest of the world like a sack of door knobs. But instead of trying to shore up the economy, the Obama administration and the congress seem hellbent on a crash coarse towards socialism. Turing into the skid if you will. DO they like so many other simply not know about some very basic rules of economics? Do they really think what they are doing will help? Or are they intentionally trying to cause a disaster? It is a Government M.O. Cause something to happen, blame someone else, then swoop in and seize money/power. Be it health cost or whatever.

If one were to look at it that way it makes perfect sense for the administration to sit on it;s ass for 2 months doing all it can to not do anything useful. Then when it does take action it is aimed squarely at BP. Not at stopping the spread of Oil. I mean why take the necessary steps to clean up the oil when you can use this disaster to push your "green" initiatives?

Man.....the Cardinals better win the world series this year. I need something to distract me for a couple hours. I would say something about the Rams....but fuck me they suck. I love my Blues. But they just need to make the playoffs. And I can't even read some good Juggernaut stories. Because some fucking hack writer got a hold of him and decided that actually using the character of "The Juggernaut" was a pain. Well my birthday has come and gone. As the cake song says "As soon as you're born you start dying". So really at this point what am I supposed to be celebrating? Someone asked me what I was going to do for my B-Day. I told them I needed to get to the post office and buy some stamps. And do a load of laundry. About the most exciting thing I did was watch a youtube clip of The Beatles:Rock Band "Birthday". Woo wee. If I didn't already have the day off I would not have asked for it.

Oh well enough of my exciting life. How about the BP? They are not looking so hot. Like big money problems. And the poor British pensioners are worried about it. On the upside you can get good prices on gas at your local BP station. So hey for those of us not living on the coast and who (are not big seafood people) it's a plus. In fact starting tomorrow I may go out of my way to hit the BP's. Might just wave at any angry passers by. Cover myself in oil while I do it. Or maybe just flip them off. Either one. Sorry but my wallet is more important than your righteous rage at BP.

I just can't wait for the decade or two of lawsuits that will come out of this whole spill mess. Hopefully they got that leak under control by then. Until that time I will stick to my beef and pork diet.

One does have to love the utter incompetence of the federal government in all of this. When Governor Bobby J wanted to build sand berms to protect the marshlands you had half a dozen federal agencies debating the environmental impact of it. Take your time fellas. And it will only spread further.

Honestly sometimes one does not know where to begin. So let us start with baseball!. The Cards vs The Phils. Some douche-bag runs onto the field. After evading a couple of security guards until someone drops him with a taser. Some say this is an over reaction. Abuse of power or the like. I say tase the shit out of those idiots.

So last night Comedy Central caved to pressure and even bleeped Mohommad's name. Like it was one of the dreaded 'words of curse'. Way to have balls CC. They took it a step further by not even replaying the episode later in the night. One wonders if they will ever replay these past two episodes?

These past two episodes were one big "look at this double standard bullshit". And CC played right into it. Sad really. Maybe if Christians threatened en mass to blow shit up we could stop people from pissing on crosses?

Then again the possibility does exist that the censoring was intentional. Which did cross my mind as I watched last night. But the replay is entirely under CC's control. We must stay tuned for further developments.

Well I hope everyone who needed to has paid their taxes. And remembers to get them in the mail by today. One would think people would just get it over with as soon as possible. But I am sure the post office will be seeing plenty of traffic today. I mean you don't have to go all Ned Flanders and get it done on Jan 1st. But hey, how about a little effort here?

On tax day I am always reminded of just how fucked up our system is. The last time I checked the Federal Government borrows 48 cents for every dollar it spends. Just think about that for a second. The sad part is that they can never pay for all of this with our taxes. If they raised our taxes to some stupid high number it would cripple the economy and no one would have anything to tax.

On the other hand people scream bloody murder whenever the talk of controlling these programs comes up. I think Social Security officially went broke this year. We are in quite a bind. The current programs are going to destroy this country in a mountain of debt in the next decade or so. But we can't seem to ween ourselves off of the government teat. Add in to that Obama is just accelerating the process. He did manage to single handily double the federal deficit.

Just remember folks. For the feds it will never be enough. They can never tax you enough nor control you enough. They will always want more. They will always have more programs that are 'too big to fail'. More people holding out their hands. And it will never be enough.

A lovely little part of the bill would let police take blood samples from suspected drunken drivers without a warrant. So...huh. Can anyone think of any unfortunate implications from this? Apparently poor record keeping prompted this 'reform'. So because they can't keep their papers straight now they want to take peoples blood? Now don't get me wrong I am not prone to conspiracy theories. But fuck me this just has bad idea written all over it.

Thankfully it has a few more steps before it could become law. I don't see this passing. But the fact that someone even thought of it disturbs me in disturbing ways.

So reports are coming out now that over 70 million doses of the H1N1 (swine Flu) vaccines will have to be thrown out. Which just strikes me as really funny. You all remember that little thing right? The swine flu epidemic that was supposed to be the 7th seal of the apocalypse or something? Thank God we have tens of millions of people with common sense. The Government was screaming bloody murder. People were practically killing each other over the first doses. But thankfully many people listened to those who were saying "this is no more dangerous than regular flu". And they were right.

Now sure lots of people became infected. And people died. But thousands of people die from regular flu season. And we don't call that a pandemic do we? No we call it fucking flu season. So I salute those like me who didn't buy into the hype. Said 'fuck the flu shot' and went about our business.

The San Diego Zoo has spent a million dollars to expand it's polar bear exhibit. Nothing wrong with that. I mean who doesn't like going to the Zoo? The only problem is they felt the need to make a political statement about "climate change". That is new speak for "global Warming". You see even though Ice in the Arctic has increased in recent years. And the polar bear population is on the rise. They felt the need to spends hundreds of thousands of dollars telling us how "Climate Change" is threatening the white fuckers. Way to be subtle.

In other news Katherine Heigl is leaving 'Grey's Anatomy'. I will give you a moment to recover. Now I have never seen that show. Nor am I a fan of Katherine's. But from everything I have seen she is a wanna be diva who thinks her shit don't stink. And the GA folks were just looking for an excuse to get rid of her. Her leaving just saves them the trouble. Have fun doing dancing with the stars. They are about the only people who will work with this bitch now.
